Steak Sandwich - The Slimmers' Version

Serves 4 | Easy | cal per 1 whole roll 180

This version of the Steak Sandwich is excellent, you will hardly notice the difference from the original one! It is very different though in content of fat, carbs, GI and is definately way more diet friendly. So just because you decided to cut back a little doesn't mean that you have to miss out on the taste or even the experience. I have even offered these rolls for my clients' events, when I was catering, whenever they requested healthy options! Everyone asked for the recipe afterwards.

Give it a taste and see for yourself.
If you do not wish to go full low carb then use a whole wheat bagette instead.
An excellent idea to use leftover steaks.

You Need
500g beef or veal fillet, trim all visible fat off the fillet and slice
1 large onion, sliced thinly
1 large green capsicum, sliced thinly
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 chili, finely chopped (optional)
1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp Balsamic Vinegar
Salt & Black Pepper to taste
Slices or shreds of fat free or low fat American cheese, Cheddar cheese or Swiss cheese
Low fat or 99% fat free whole wheat Tortillas
Classic Yellow Mustard

In a smal bowl mix together oil, vinegar, crushed garlic, chili if using salt & pepper, mix well.

Slice the fillet and place in a bowl, top with oil mixture and rub to coat. Heat some spray oil in a large skillet and stir onions & capsicums till tender. Add meat and stir till meat is done (the amount of time depends how well done you want the slices to be. I prefer mine medium and pink so I cook for about 2 - 3 minutes.

Place 1 tortilla round on a heated pan and heat it up a little. Top with hot meat and onions then immediately top with cheese to allow it to melt before the meat cools down. you can then top with mustard if you wish and thin slices of gerkin picckles als optional. Roll and enjoy.

Serve hot with a side of salad, makes for a perfect balanced and healthy meal... Totally Guilt Free :)

Have you tried this or any other recipe from this blog, I would love to hear your comments. So let me know how they went :)
