The perfect beverage

Apple tea is genius for pairing with most desserts.

To emphasise the apple flavour serve this tea with apple desserts. This tea is also perfect to serve with spice cakes, pies or cookies. Of course that does not mean it won’t pair well with other more plain desserts like a vanilla sponge, vanilla cookies, cream or honey desserts. Finally, any dessert with cinnamon tones is perfect with this tea.

This is a perfect beverage in that sense!

Ingredients

  • 500ml boiling water
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored and diced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cloves
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp DS Apple Sauce
  • 2 plain or vanilla tea sachets
  • 1 apple cut into thin wedges

 

Bring all ingredients except the tea sachets to boiling

Reduce the heat & simmer covered for 10 minutes.

Add the tea sachets, and let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes.

Strain into a tea pot.

For light coloured apple tea, don’t let the tea steep for too long or not at all.

Place fresh sliced apples in serving cups & serve immediately.
