Masala Tea...

Because this tea is spiced,

and in order not to overwhelm the flavours of dessert, it is best paired with cakes, and desserts that are simple in flavour, like shortcakes & sugar or vanilla cookies for instance. After all the idea behind pairing is for the flavours to enhance each other and the overall eating experience, without competing with or overwhelming one another! This tea is also well balanced against Orange sponges and bread puddings.

That is of course for days you wish to share its spot with anything else, because you will mostly love sipping only on the tea and enjoying that moment without the distraction of eating!

Ingredients

  • 500 ml Boiling water
  • 2 sachets plain tea
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1 cardamom seed
  • 2 whole star anise
  • grated ginger to taste
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Milk or cream (optional)

Add the sachets, reduce the heat and simmer for 3 minutes.

Strain into the serving teapot.

In serving cups, place 1 cinnamon stick and 1 star anise, pour  the tea over and serve immediately. You may also want to serve it with milk or cream.
